‘The Sound Collector at the Hospital’ by Alicja

A hospital corridor ANBerlin via Compfight

A stranger called this morning

Dressed all in black and grey,

Put every sound into a bag

And carried them away.

The talking of the people,

The ticking of the clock,

The crying of the baby,

The calming of the doctor.

The scraping of the surgery knife,

The screeching of the wheelchair,

The coughing of the people,

The banging of the door,

A stranger called this morning.

He didn’t leave his name,

Left us only silence,

Life will never be the same.

Work done with Ms. Kelly.

Inspired by the poem:

‘The Sound Collector’ by Roger McGough
