We have blogging buddies all over the world.

We visit blogs from Canada, America, UK, New Zealand and Australia.

We see the great world that is being done by children

in their classrooms all over the world.

One of the blogs we visit is Grade 1-2E Brilliant Blog.

From it we can see the ways our lives are the same and the ways we are different.

We see that children in Australia are interested in the same things we are.

They like the books we like;

books by Roald Dahl

and others like ‘The Wimpy Kid’ and ‘ Captain Underpants’.

However, in this school, homework is different for them.

It is optional. This means that they can do it if they like,

but they need not do it if they don’t like!

What do you think of that?

Each night they can do workΒ based on a different letter of the alphabet.

For example on the evening where ‘L’ was the special letter,

a student called Liam,

built a lagoon out of lego.

You can see itΒ here.

Another thing that 2nd Class, Room 6

Grade 1-2E have in common

is that their teacher is Irish!

Grade 1-2E Brilliant Blog is well named

because it is ‘Brilliant’.

In particular the class are very good

at commenting on their own blog!

So hello to our friends in Grade 1-2E.

Perhaps you might like to visit them

and leave a comment!

  3. Hi there Alessandra and Nate,
Thank you for your lovely comment.
We see that your comment was made at four
in an Irish morning, when we were all
    in the Land of Dreams.
We are getting our summer holidays on Friday.
    They will last eight weeks.
We have just finished a term of thirteen weeks
and are oh so tired πŸ˜‰
Many of us will remain in Ireland for the holidays.
Some children will travel to Spain, France
Portugal or the UK (United Kingdom).
    Keep up the good work.
We love the way you are so good
at commenting on your own blog.
It is great to see that you are so interested
    in your own learning,
    With every good wish

  4. Dear Blogging Buddies in 1-2E,
We are glad that our comment made you feel good about yourselves.
You should feel proud of all your hard work.
We are looking forward to our holidays tomorrow, Friday.
When you read this it will be our tomorrow πŸ˜‰
We are going on holidays for eight weeks.
It sounds like a long time, but then we had a looooooooooooooooooooooooong term
of thirteen weeks. We really need a holiday πŸ™‚
If we go away, it will be to somewhere warm in Europe where hopefully there will be sun.
Ireland is very green as your teacher will tell you, but the weather in the Summer is unpredictable and mixed.
    With every good wish

  5. Hello 2nd class room 6,
We only have two weeks holidays! We had nearly two or three months of school!

I never knew people in Ireland would travel to Portugal.

Edel told me you have eight weeks holiday because it’s summer in the Northen hemisphere.
We have our summer holidays when it’s christmas.

Thank you for saying that I’m good at commenting.
Make sure you put paragraphs in your comments

    From Alessandra

P.S You’re very good at commenting too!

  6. Thank you Alessandra,

Oh we were mixed up about the holidays you get.
We love our long summer holidays,
but could if we got shorter holidays
every six weeks or so, we mightn’t be to very tired.

Some Irish people go to Portugal because they love the sun πŸ™‚

We are always fascinated to think people in Australia,
    have Christmas during their Summer.

Thank you for the advice about paragraphs.
As you can see we are being more careful πŸ˜‰

    With every good wish.

  7. Hello again,
I’m glad it’s holidays now. I agree if we have about six weeks of school we wouldn’t be tired at all!

I love your blog, it has sooo many posts! I have been too busy that I haven’t had a chance to comment! Luckily I am commenting now!

How often do you make new posts on your blog?

At first I was shy to comment on your blog! Now I am happy to comment on your blog and my blog anytime I can.

I’m busy these holidays. Next holidays I’m traveling all the way to Hawaii!

    Write you again soon, Alessandra

  8. Hi there, Alessandra

We are so glad that it is the holidays too, though Teacher is still working.

Thank you for saying that you love our blog.

We have run it for two years and the posts have added up in that time.

We appreciate your comments. It is lovely to get comments and to hear from you.

Our blog is to showcase the good work we do.

We do a lot of work, and a lot of it is really good (Teacher says)

so then we put it up on our blog

for our families and friends to see.

Some children’s families live in other countries,

like the Philippines and the USA,

so it is good that they have this connection.

Sometimes we put up a post every week,

and sometimes, it is like an avalanche,

there are so many pieces of work

to be put up on the blog.

I think everyone is shy at first to post a comment,

and then it becomes easy, like a chat or conversation.

    Enjoy your holidays

and your next holidays, when you travel to Hawaii.

    Sounds lovely πŸ™‚

    With every good wish,

Merry Beau and 2nd Class Room 6

  9. Hello,
I started school again two days ago. In Australia it’s Wednesday.

I hope your still enjoying your looonnngg eight weeks holiday! I hope you have had lots of fun so far.

I can’t beleive your blog has been going for two years! You have lots of visitors! My class blog has only been going for a few months.

    Alessandra

  10. Hi there, Alessandra,

I hope school is going well. Yes we are two and a half weeks into our looooooooong hols. (Teacher is still working ;))
The children are having lots of fun, because something very unusual has happened in Ireland…
We have SUN this summer for weeks and weeks now (three perhaps!)

The highest temperature ever recorded in Ireland was 33.3 C.
    That was in 1887!
We have had temperatures in the mid twenties
and the highest temperature this summer was 28.4 C
    This is very unusual.

Ireland is called ‘The Emerald Isle’ because it is so green usually.
Now the grass is looking very dry.
The boys and girls are having great fun in the sun.

The ice cream manufacturers are very happy because they are selling lots.
Children are enjoying the beach and water sports more than they would normally.
The farmers are happy … so far, as their crops are ripening nicely,
but they would like some rain shortly.

Those selling holidays in foreign countries in the sun,
aren’t doing so well as sales are down.

We started our blog very quietly two years ago.
In the first year, we had very few visitors.
But we found if we blogged regularly (say once a week)
    and commented on other blogs
    we had more visitors.
We also found Twitter good for attracting visitors to our blogs.

Because we are on our holidays,
our blog is pretty quiet at the moment,
so thanks for dropping by πŸ™‚

    With every good wish

  11. Hello’
I can’t believe your blog is so quiet! Some people that are still in Ireland can still comment on the blog.

I try to comment on your/my blog nearly everyday! I love commenting.

    From Alessandra

  12. Thanks Alessandra,

Well I suppose people are on their holiday πŸ˜‰
With this unexpected heat wave people are out enjoying the sun.

Also we are not putting up new posts at the moment,
so there is less to comment on.

Have a good day and take care

  13. Hello
You have lots and lots of visitors on your blog!
I suggest you should put up more posts on your blog to get more visitors.

I’m running out of things to say!
I hope you can have a rest during the holidays in Ireland.

    All the best

    From Alessandra
P.S Only do paragraphs after a few sentences.

  14. Ah but the students aren’t in school to write the posts.
I’ll have to wait until the Summer holidays are over πŸ™‚
    I need their talents πŸ˜‰

  15. Hello,
Will you ever have some rest?! You must be very tired if you are still working.

I am really running out of things to say!

I hope your class is having a lovely holiday. They will be having fun in the sun!

    Alessandra

  16. Hi Alessandra,

I am doing work I enjoy,
that I didn’t get round to
while I was doing school work:
    gardening and baking πŸ˜‰

    Certainly the children
    are having a wonderful summer,
as they can go out and
have fun every day so far
    during this summer.

    With every good wish
