We love music in the classroom.
Singing together
or playing musical instruments together
makes us feel happy
and more of a team.
Here are some great music games
on Music Games.net.

After all we are called ‘If Only the Best Birds Sang’ 😉
Mighty Oaks from Little Acorns Grow – Past Pupil’s Musical Success.
We were very happy to hear about
the musical success of a past pupil of the school.
Harry O’Connor left St.Brigid’s
after a year in Ms. Ahern’s Junior Infants.
We have happy memories of Harry performing
‘The Friendly Cow’ in Kilcoole Feis 2003.
As we recall he won.
Here he is sitting at the front of his
Junior Infants class on the left.
Now fourteen, Harry is an accomplished
composer, musician and conductor.
This is a live recording of the
first performance of ‘Gloria in D’.
Harry wrote this piece for
piano, percussion and choir,
for the Kenmare Choral Festival.
We wish Harry all the best
in the future
and will follow his progress
with interest and with pride.
Happy Christmas to All!

Thank you for the music: Contemporary songs (with lyrics onscreen) on Vimeo that we enjoy singing
Our class loved a sing song this year.
These Vimeo videos are useful in that they have the lyrics on screen.

Though the words of ‘Winter Song’ by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson
are not included on this video, we are including here,
because in is another song we enjoyed this year.
Vimeo is very convenient as,
unlike Youtube, it is not ‘blocked’ in school.
However please do not let your child use Vimeo unattended.

2nd Class Room 6 wrote a Class Song
2nd Class Room 6 wrote a Class Song
The boys and girls in 2nd Class Room 6 love to sing.
They love Taio Cruz’s ‘Dynamite’
and the Minecraft version.
They based their class song on ‘Dynamite.’
Here it is:
We throw our hands into the air sometimes
Saying A-YO
Come on, let’s go
We want to celebrate
and live our lives.
Saying A-Y0
Come on, let’s go

We came to school, school, school, school,
We’re in the door
Cos we’re no fool, fool, fool, fool,
We’ll tell you more
and all our friends, friends, friends, friends,
are all so cool
Cos that that’s the rule, rule, rule, rule,
Yeah, Yeah
Cos it goes on and on and on
Yes work goes on and on and on
Yeah
We throw our books up in the air sometimes
Saying A-YO, come on let’s go.
We want to celebrate and live our lives
Saying A-YO
Come on, let’s go.
We’re going to rock this class
We’re going to work all day
When we’ve got it done
We can go and play.
Cos we’ve told you once
and we’ve told you twice
We’re going to rock this class
Like it’s dynamite
We want to work, work, work, work
But we can’t wait
Until class ends, ends, ends, ends
So we can go home
with all our friends, friends, friends, friends.
Put down your pens
And we will smile, smile, smile, smile
Yeah yeah
Cos it goes on and on and on
It goes on and on and on
Yeah
We throw up our pens up in the air sometimes
Saying A-YO
Come on, let’s go.
We want to celebrate
and live our lives.
Saying A-YO
Come on let’s go
We’re going to rock this classl
We’re going to work all day
And when work is done
We will go and play
Cos we’ve told you once
and we’ve told you twice
We’re going to rock this class
Like it’s dynamite.
Next we are going to learn the song and make a podcast.
We’ll Sing A Song To Brigid
St. Brigid is the patron saint of our school.
Every year as St. Brigid’s Feastday
(1st February) approaches
we practice singing
‘We’ll Sing A Song To Brigid’.
We have been singing this song since we were in
Junior Infants, so we know it well 😉
Legend says that angels sang over the place Brigid was born.
