A stranger called this morning

Dressed all in black and grey,

Put every sound into a bag

And carried them away.

The munching of the cake

The chuckling of the children,

The smashing of the pinyata,

The pinging of the doorbell,

The singing of the birthday song,

The screaming of the children,

The swishing of the napkins,

The purring of the cat,

A stranger called this morning.

He didn’t leave his name,

Left us only silence,

Life will never be the same.

Work done with Ms. Kelly.
